Research interests:
Pearl millet is an important cereal crop for food security and income generation for the population in semi‐arid areas. To enhance its productivity under current and predicted drought conditions, high-yielding climate resilient pearl millet varieties must be developed and adopted over the next decade. The focus of my research is to understand the genetic basis of drought adaptive traits in the Senegalese germplasm. The ultimate goal is the development of genomic tools such as markers associated with traits that help breeders make more informed decisions on crosses for better management of available resources.
